Combustion chamber

The hollow, elongated shape of the GE-60 SP Standard’s combustion chamber holds logs up to 152.4 cm (60 in.) long. It’s made entirely of 409 stainless steel, a metal with excellent heat transfer properties and enhanced durability. In the lower part of the chamber, a row of cast-iron grates support the logs.

Grate vibrator

Exclusive to Sequoia, the grate vibrator in the GE-60 SP Standard wood furnace easily separates the ash from the glowing embers. Connected to an accessible crank handle, this ingenious mechanism shakes the cast-iron grates, letting the powdered ash fall through the gaps.

Continuous maintenance

Concealed beneath the grates, a long, V-shaped ash collector catches the powdered ash. Thanks to an auger mechanism, the ash can easily be removed from the outdoor wood furnace. This manual procedure makes it possible to service the GE-60 SP Standard boiler without shutting it down.

Blowers

There are two blowers that supply air to the combustion chamber in the GE-60 SP Standard wood furnace. When the temperature of the fluid inside the water jacket drops below 160 °F, an aquastat automatically activates the blowers to fan the fire. When the fluid reaches 180 °F, the same aquastat switches off the blowers to dampen the flames.
